You have written the whole lab report,  oh wait what is that lab report? A lab report is a description of an experiment and the findings from the experiment. A lab report has objectives that it has to meet.

In lab reports, particular laboratory experiments are described and assessed using one or more scientific principles. Utilizing scientific methods, theories will be investigated. Students majoring in psychology, data science, and nursing are also working on the lab reports. It helps to know what these lab reports are to know how to write one.

What Should Be In a Lab Report Conclusion

You have written the whole lab report so we get to the conclusion bit and what do you write here? The conclusion is basically a summary of the whole report and a little of what do think about the experiment you have just done. The following is a guideline that will help you get it right with the lab report conclusion.

·         Describe the objectives of the study.

Restate the objectives of your experiment to start off your conclusion. If your report had an introduction, briefly recapitulate what you said there. Note all of your experiment’s goals: What query or queries did you hope to address? Include a synopsis of any predictions you had regarding the outcome of your experiment.

Take the experiment you ran to find the freezing point of water samples with various salt concentrations as an example. You would explain that the purpose of your experiment was to determine the correlation between salt concentration and the freezing point of water. On the basis of your prior chemical understanding, you would also give your forecast of how the salt content would affect the freezing point.

·         Describe the techniques employed.

Briefly describe the techniques you employed in your experiment. The complete list of everything utilized in the experiment should be included in the lab report’s “methods” section, not in this list. Make a note of the crucial materials and tools you utilized in your experiment, as well as any data collection techniques. Include a brief justification of your decision to use those particular procedures in addition to the summary of your data collection techniques

·         Describe and evaluate the final data.

The data from your tests, including all the data you collected and a thorough analysis of that data, are the main emphasis of your lab report. Only include any concluding information you’ve learned from analysis in your conclusion rather than restating all the results of your experiment. For instance, you wouldn’t include any individual measurements from the experiment if the average result of assessing the data from an experiment to estimate the density of formaldehyde was 8.12 x 102kg/m3.

A How to Writing of a Lab Report Conclusion

As part of your conclusion, you should briefly explain what the results of your experiment show. Describe any patterns in the data, and note whether any discrepancies in the results raised any additional concerns. Report any further potential causes of inaccuracy in your data and analysis.

Indicate if your experiment was successful.

Examine the findings in light of your experiment’s objectives and predictions in your conclusion. Indicate whether your experiment’s findings enabled you to provide answers to the questions you posed in the introduction.

Declare your success if you had any. If not, explain why your experiment might not have been able to respond to these queries and offer a strategy that might have helped a different experiment respond to them more effectively. Regardless of whether your experiment was successful or not, describe what you learned from it and indicate which of your expectations for the outcome were accurate.

Writing the Closing Paragraphs for a Lab Report

The objectives of the experiment, a discussion of your key findings, an explanation of your findings, and suggestions for subsequent research are all found in the conclusion paragraph.

Disclaimer: I have given a lab experiment example in each but it may not necessarily be right it is just for the purpose of knowing what to write.

Write a paragraph that addresses each of the following issues don’t just answer each question by numbering them off.

One form: The experiment’s goal was to determine how the (IV) affected the (DV)

Example: By contrasting the growth of bean plants subjected to stress for 15 days with a control group (non-stressed plants), the experiment’s goal was to ascertain the impact of stress on the growth of bean plants.

What were the main conclusions? (Recap your data and provide graphs of the outcomes.)

For instance, there was no discernible difference in height between stressed and unstressed plants.

According to the graph above, all stressed plants had an average height of 10.2 cm, whereas all unstressed plants had an average height of 10.4 cm.

One form: The insert your hypothesis here is fully to support, moderately support, or not to support. Please refrain from ever using the word proof; in lab experiments, hypotheses are never proven to be true.

Example: There was no evidence to support the hypothesis that stressed plants would have a significantly lower mean height.

The plants were dug up and replanted as an artificial cause of stress in this experiment, for instance. It’s possible that this experiment could be made better by replicating actual stressors like drought and nutrient deficiency in the soil.

Not permitted: If we had carried out this experiment properly instead of sloppily and with negligent measurements, it would have been more successful.

An excellent example of an additional experiment would be to do more research employing diverse types of stress at more frequent intervals. The similar experiment might also be conducted on other crops like corn and squash. Scientists might be able to identify a molecule that plants release under stress.

In conclusion

The above is just to help one get through a lab report conclusion. Like having a map to know how to get to your destination. It really helps when you have a little guideline it makes you confident and not do your writing blindly. And hopefully helps in the long run. You can get help from experts here.
